SDD Legislative Victories

Dorthee Soelle expressed pleasure at the many new legislative victories that the SDD had a hand in. This includes "our proposal to abolish arms sales to other nations and our support for proposals to nationalize key industries and provide for free phones to the people of Dorvik."

But Soelle was critical of the government in it's opposition to trade union reform legislation and the democratic worker councils. "Nationalization without the instruments of democratic governance may prove to be a phyric victory for those of us who support economic democracy."

Given the improved legislative atmosphere, the SDD is proposing a range of new laws such as a prescription drug benefit, new regulations governing stock markets to protect people's savings and retirements, and the reintroduction of a nuclear and biological chemical weapons ban.

"We look forward to the support of all people in moving this nation into a more democratic and just future. Expanding access to health care, protecting our environment, protecting people's savings, working for a peaceful world. It's a commitment of the SDD." she said.
