SDD Legislative Victories

Dorthee Soelle expressed pleasure at the many new legislative victories that the SDD had a hand in. This includes "our proposal to abolish arms sales to other nations and our support for proposals to nationalize key industries and provide for free phones to the people of Dorvik."
But Soelle was critical of the government in it's opposition to trade union reform legislation and the democratic worker councils. "Nationalization without the instruments of democratic governance may prove to be a phyric victory for those of us who support economic democracy."
Given the improved legislative atmosphere, the SDD is proposing a range of new laws such as a prescription drug benefit, new regulations governing stock markets to protect people's savings and retirements, and the reintroduction of a nuclear and biological chemical weapons ban.
"We look forward to the support of all people in moving this nation into a more democratic and just future. Expanding access to health care, protecting our environment, protecting people's savings, working for a peaceful world. It's a commitment of the SDD." she said.
SDD and the Elections

Dorthee Soelle, head of the Social Democrats of Dorvik, was mildly optimistic about the election results. In a television interview she said that the doubling of the SDD vote in this election and the growth of the center left could lead to more legislative victories.
But she was cautious because the SDD still has not achieved a legislative delegation befitting the support the party has in the country and the center left does not have a working majority. Nonetheless she pledged to raise a number of issues in the new legislature.
"The SDD is seeking new ways to move the country into a peaceful direction. We've introduced two bills: one which ends compulsory military service. A second which would ban the export of arms We challenge all parties of good will to support these important initiatives." Soelle said.
Soelle has welcomed the new initiatives coming out of the PSR and the RGP. "While our approaches are not always as state centered, we look forward to working with both parties in making a difference for working people, for the environment, and for peace in Dorvik and our world."
Dorthee Soelle Welcomes New Elections

Soelle, head of the Social Democrats, welcomed early elections in Dorvik. The cooperation of the left with the Left Unity Project, the government's blocking of important labor and peace initiatives, and the inaction of the Identity Party all suggests the need for an election.
She said "This election is historic in it's possibility of moving Dorvik into a new and peaceful future. The excitement I see on the campaign trail for something different than politics as usual is palpable." Soelle added that "people's involvement is what makes the difference."
Dorthee Soelle Blasts Legislative Inaction

Dorthee Soelle, head of the Social Democrats of Dorvik had harsh words today for the government's decision to block a number of labour and foreign policy legislative proposals.
"To reject the ban on the possibilities of using nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons places us at risk in terms of instigating a potential arms race and it places Dorvik outside of the community of nations who rightfully abhor such unthinkable weapons," Soelle said.
And when it comes to improving the lot of working families the government has faired no better, killing a proposal to encourage worker councils and voting against the Trade Union Freedom Bill, a key reform that the labour movement has long sought.
Soelle argued that the SDD would seek to raise up these issues in the up and coming election. "We can have a government that values working families and peace" Soelle said at a rally later that day. "But it will take all of you getting involved to make it happen."
SSD Joins Dorvik Left Unity Project

Dorthee Soelle, head of the Social Democrats of Dorvik, announced today SSD's participation in the Dorvik Left Unity Project with the Dorvik Free Green Party. She said "we welcome any cooperation in the task of working for a more peaceful and just future."
"Such cooperation can be found in the DFGP's support of our proposal to ban chemical and biological weapons and in our embrace of their proposal to ban nuclear weapons." said Soelle. The SSD looks forward to future cooperation on the vital issues of the day.
SSD Expands its Presence on the Internet. The SSD has initiated a blog at socialdemocratsofdorvik.blogspot.com/ And the SSD has a new wiki page at particracy.wikia.com/wiki/Social_Democrats_of_Dorvik The SSD hopes to reach more people with its democratic left message this way.
Election Results the Beginning

Shortly after the founding of the
Social Democrats of Dorvik the electorate headed to the polls, clearly expressing a desire for change. The 50,000 plus voters for the SSD was confirmation that people are hungry for a vision of a democratic and peaceful future.
An expression of such a vision is to be found in the new legislation proposed by the SSD which would ban the use, development, storage or purchase of biological and chemical weapons.
"Keeping such weapons encourages other nations to procure them, thus adding to the world's instability" said Dorthee Soelle who is head of the SSD. "Dorvik can lead the world in taking the dramatic step of not using or keeping such weapons."
Social Democrats of Dorvik Founded

Meeting in Fairfax people came from across the country to express their frustration over the limited range of political options and to express the need for a democratic socialist voice in
Dorvik.
Representatives from peace groups, labour unions, and other progressive organizations decided to side step the Party of Social Reform to create a new political party that can represent an uncompromising and unapologetic democratic left platform.
Dorthee Soelle, peace activist and theologian, was elected as the standard bearer in the up coming elections in Dorvik. She said "we're looking to vigorously contest ideas in every region of the country" and to place "working families needs first on the agenda"
